Subscribed members of Dave's Garden will receive full access to all the discussion forums on this site, as well as access to some special access features of the Plants Database.

The Plants Database currently contains 63,011 plants, 36,724 photos, 17,319 comments, representing 380 families, 2,527 genera, and 5,811 species.  This database was collaboratively developed by gardeners around the world. It is the result of the efforts of 5,230 individuals. It is the largest of its kind in existence.

You may search for entries in several ways: by name (common or botanical); by characteristics (height, hardiness, etc.) or browse the database by category.  If you would like to add your own photo, description, or other details to a plant, you will find the links to do just that under the current information within each entry.

If you know of a plant that is not yet in our database we invite you to add it.

Dave's Garden is the brainchild of Dave Whitinger and was launched in August, 2000. It is a series of web sites that cater to the needs and desires of gardeners and farmers.  As of April 14, 2004, there are 90,607 members, ranging from experienced market growers to novice gardeners.  In June, 2003, 596,847 unique users generated 12,125,694 page views.
