IdeaMarketers  is a media-matching service created in December of 1998, which unites writers and publishers. Writers can post their articles for free to be featured on the site. They're stored in a searchable database.

Publishers, webmasters and ezine editors can then come in and find content. There's a link on the bottom of every article that you can click on and request permission from the author to use the article. The author can then yea/nay the use of the article. The answer is almost always yes, because that's why they put the article on the site anyway!

The general custom is that you get permission and then you can publish the article as long as you use the author's bio/contact information.
