There are several kinds of content available on Modern Tales:

• Series. The core of Modern Tales. There are roughly 30 constantly-updating Modern Tales series at any given time (the actual titles may change but the number of titles stays the same, more or less). Most of these series update weekly. A handful update daily, or thrice-weekly. Another small handful update monthly (but they update with more than 30 pages of new material every month). The latest installment of most of our series is free to all, while it is new. When a new installment of that series is posted, the previously free installment rolls into the archive. There are currently thousands of pages of comics in our series archives. Archives are only available to paying Modern Tales subscribers.
• One-Shots and Completed Series From time to time, our cartoonists will post a short or long story on the website, either all at once, or serializing the story a page or two at a time. These completed series and one-shots are only available to subscribers.
• Graphic Novels The latest addition to the Modern Tales content line is a monthly graphic novel showcase, Modern Tales Longplay, launching in December 2002. Every month, one to four new full-length graphic novels will be posted for subscribers only.
• Sketchbooks As a premium for our subscribers, many of the Modern Tales cartoonists maintain active sketchbook areas, where they share unpublished works, scripts, character designs, and so on. These sketchbook areas are available to subscribers only.

I've subscribed to Modern Tales just once. There were 3 comics on it that I really liked, but then one of them stopped, and the others only updated maybe once a week. I couldn't afford to pay for only 2 comic strips per week (At ~36 cents a piece, I could
