Detailsback to topNote: Subscription details are assembled using information from the publisher's site. Case's Ladder was created in February 1996. Our mission is to provide the best gaming leagues on the Internet. Our leagues consist of "ladders" and "tournaments". When you compete on Case's Ladder you are competing against the best players in the world. A ladder is an ongoing method of ranking players who are competing in a game. It is called a ladder because it operates on the principle of rank or rungs. Your ranking/rung on the ladder indicates how good you are as compared to the other players. When you sign up you start at the bottom of the ladder. Your goal is to climb the ladder to the #1 spot. Up, up and away! When you beat someone you move up half the distance between their rank and yours. So if you were at the #100 rank and beat the #1 player, you move to #50. All players ranked 50-99 slide down one rung to make room for you. Down we go. What happens if you lose? Your rank remains the same. You lose rungs on the Ladder when other players jump ahead of you, forcing you down. The only exception comes when you lose to the person directly beneath you. In this case you switch spots. Our tournament system is setup so that there will be many tournaments going on at any time. We have large company sponsored tournaments and small individually run tournaments. Tournaments are different from ladders in that they have a definite beginning and end whereas a ladder is constantly ongoing and has no end. You can choose to host and run your own tournament through our system. To do this you must first qualify to become a tournament director. Case's Ladder has become the place for competitive play on the Internet. Our ladders and tournaments are the most advanced on the net yet simple and fun to play in. If you really want to prove you are the best in a game, this is the place to do it. We automate the entire process of keeping track of player rankings. We also keep track of fun statistics like the number of matches you have played, your win-loss record, the highest rank you have ever achieved, and much, much, more. In addition to our ladders and leagues we provide much in the form of community. Forums, gaming news, live chat, and voting booths are all provided so that you can communicate with your fellow players. We also work closely with the major gaming services and software companies to bring you good deals on popular software, special beta-testing opportunities, and more.
