Deceptive Rip-Off
Credit Check Monitoring Service offers a "free" 30 day trial period during which one supposedly can get "free single-bureau credit reports. Signing up for this, however, also signs you up for a one year membership at $79.95. There is no mention thereafter of the fact that you must cancel your membership within thirty days to avoid the $79.95 charge.

I thought I canceled my membership, but according to their records I did not. I got one free credit report, never recieved a Credit Check Newsletter that might have alerted me to the fact that they carried me as an acitve member and generally ended up getting ripped off $16 for nothing (no credit reports after that). By the time I noticed the charge, all I got was a prorated refund. Bcause the "consumer help" desk cancelled my membership first , i could not even get ONE Cedit Report for my $16.00.

Bottom Line. Nothing is free. This is a deceptive rip-off that I'm sure ensares many people that forget to cancel or whose cancellation doesnt' take. Save yourself the trouble. DON"T REGISTER!
