Great Expectations I have done alot of the online stuff, went to great expectations, they first charged me 5000 dollars, then I said I wasn't interested, 5k went to 4k then down to 1k, and then down to 700 dollars! So do you trust a dating service that does this cost cutting tactic? How many other people in their service are paying less? Needless to say I walked out, I didn't trust them.
What a waste of money! I have no idea where to begin.... Let me tell you if you are thinking of paying to join great expectations please reconsider. IT IS A TOTAL RIP OFF!!!!! You are better off using Yahoo personals or Eharmony or some other internet site. I went in there for an appt. and before I knew it they suckered me for 3000 dollars and 35 bucks a month. Told me I would be dating within 2 weeks. I have been a member for over 2 years and I still haven't had a real good date. In fact I wouldn't even classify them as dates. I chose over 200 women on their site and have had minimal responses and the ones that have responded said no for various reasons. GE told me to come in and change my pics, my video, my profile but nothing worked. So my question to you is what is the difference between GE and match.com???? I will tell you it is about 3000 dollars. They do nothing extra for you. They tell you that they do background checks on all their members. Well I can tell you this they took my money within 30 minutes of me walking in the door!! Background check?? Hmmmm. All they do is put your picture on a site and allow you to pick a bunch of people who don't have to reply for 30 days. Then they can reply by putting you on hold for as long as they want. I have replies that said "Ill try ya later" from 3 years ago. They offer special events that they charge you to attend!!! Like you haven't paid them enough already. When you call in the people that work there are really nice and they tell you to give it more time or that you need to do this or that. What in the hell do they do??????? Anyways I could type a million disadvantages about this service but I am limited to 3000 characters in this box. However, I will tell you to take your 3000 dollars and use it on something more wisely than great expectations. Maybe someone that works there will read this review and do something about it. Again there are a couple nice people that work in the office but they don't do anything to help you well unless they charge you!! They tell you to redo your pics, your video, or go to events. They tell you that they can't make people answer "yes". Then why tell people want to date that they will be dating in 2 weeks if they just pay 3 grand today. Pay today and date in two weeks? I paid and I am still paying 2 years later but still no dates. They don't contact other members for you, they don't require the members to give a "real" reason of why they are rejecting you, and finally they get fewer than 5 new members a week. If your lucky one will be in your age group and if your really lucky they will give you a response in the next 30 days. So you ask why dont you cancel?? Well once you sign you are screwed!! You are locked in for 3 years or 1 year what ever you agree too. You can't get a refund!
Re: Great Expectations ----- YOU MUST READ !!! I wanted to resposnd to kari. I am the centre director for the Great Expectations franchise in Vienna, VA. We do fantastic service but kari was probably right. She would receive special treatment and rates because female clients are very rare for us. We focus mainly on homosexual clients. Great Expectations ----- YOU MUST READ !!! You must set up an appointment to talk with the personel at GE. They tell you, you must bring 2 forms of id and suggest a drivers license and a credit card or a check book. They put you in a room which sets the mood to make you relax (low light, candles, aroma, ect.). After the video, they will con you into a membership. The woman that I interviewed with went as far as to tell me that her husband had died and without GE she would not have survived. She also told me of her daughters that have also joined. She told me that I would be stupid to walk out without signing up. They told me I would get a special rate because there is high demand for women my age and because I am a single mother with a low income. WHAT A JOKE!!!! For this price, I could have hired myself a personal date finder. You have to sign a contract and you are bound by it. You can only select members that have registered (and paid) at the same center you did. This limits the selection by far. You can see there picture, profile, and most of them have a very short low quality video that they play. Once you select a person, GE mails that person a post card. If you agree to meet this person, they supply the female with the male's phone #. After that, it's all up to you. The only benifit to this service is that they do a background check on everyone. They say that they are highly selective, but in my opinion, they will take anyone with the money.
